Spares can only replace an absent team player at their position level or lower.

A spare can only skip provided the team skip is the player who is absent.

No team member can be demoted in position due to a spare.

When possible, team members will move up ONE position level when a member is absent. Should the skip be absent, the vice may move up to the skip position.

A team will have their game recorded as a "default" should more than 2 players be absent. In other words, teams are not in default provided at least 2 team members are present. (A defaulting team will receive 0 pts for the game.)

The non-defaulting team (the opponent) will receive 3 pts and also score their total rocks for the tie-breaker points.
